Château Lafleur

Lafleur: a wide variety of vintages

In the Pomerol appellation, Châteaux Lafleur is a must-have. These Bordeaux wines are capable of great diversity in their vintages, thanks in part to the three types of soil present on the 4-hectare estate: from gravelly sand to sandy-clay or clayey gravel. What's more, the Lafleur estate produces only reds, from a specific grape variety: merlot and cabernet-franc. These two grape varieties seem to be planted in equal proportions, although Merlot has a slight advantage. It should be noted that this production (around 12,000 bottles a year) is always carried out with respect for the environment

Lafleur wines may surprise on account of the richness of their soils, but on the whole they are intense: on the nose, they reveal hints of flowers, violets and peony. Here and there, licorice can be detected. Supple, the 2000 to 2005 vintages are exceptional. On the other hand, these are wines that can be kept for a long time: most will need to wait at least 8 to 10 years before drinking. Some will keep for more than 20 years. If you have a Lafleur Premier Grand Cru in your cellar, everyone can sell their wine quickly with Vins Grands Crus.
